You know who he is. If not, does this help?
Thought so. He’s a stand-up comic, an HBO phenomenon, the first host of BET’s Comic View and a television and movie star. And he’s in town. He is performing at 4th & B on Satuday at 7:00 p.m. Check him out.

Paula Poundstone

You a Paula Poundstone fan? Forgetting the scandal about her kids a few years back, the woman is known for being funny. She’s also in town. Poundstone will be at 4th and B this evening. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.
Technically it’s cheaper to watch one of her HBO specials from the comfort of your couch, but what’s the fun in that when you can see her live.

New Year’s Planning
Author: HelenKay, Category: Food, Holiday Events, Restaurants, Social Life
The December gift-giving holidays are over. You may be asking, “what’s next?” Once you get over your December 25th the food-induced coma, the answer is: New Year’s. Yes, that’s right. It’s time for a party-induced coma. You have your choice of about 100 parties right here in San Diego. In case you have not thought about it yet, here are just a few of the many club/destination possibilities:
There’s NYE: Massive at 4th & B, a party at The Prado, another at Bar West, a Grand Ole Party at the Belly Up and something called New Year’s Rocker Eve with Lee Rocker at Anthology. And that’s only a few. The bottom line is that you don’t have to hang at home unless you want to. There’s plenty going on all over the county. Plan early.

Movie and A Dip
Author: HelenKay, Category: Events & Happenings, Social Life
You’ve heard about matinee movies, date movies, chick movies and drive-in movies. Have you heard about Dive-In movies? Yes, “dive” and not “drive” is the key here.
The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma is offering a weekly poolside social event. You see a movie, order food and drink, chat a bit and otherwise hangout. Whether or not you put on that bathing suit or just wear your usual social gathering clothing is up to you. But, admit it, you want to check it out. There’s just something intriguing about this idea.
If that’s the case and you want to know more, the movies are Wednesdays at 8:00p.m. The November selections are:
November 14th - Sabrina (1954 version)
November 21st - Ocean’s Eleven (1960 version)
November 28th - You Only Live Twice (Bond)
Cabanas are available but must be reserved. Otherwise it’s first come, first served.
