Buble Is Here
Author: HelenKay, Category: Arts, Music, SDSU
No, I did not spell bubble wrong. I’m talking about Michael Buble, the Canadian singer. Here, look:
See, you recognize him. I knew you would.
He’s performing this evening at Cox Arena (SDSU) at 8:00 p.m. This is bad news for me since I live near SDSU and the traffic congestion on event evenings can be…well, horrific. But, for the rest of you in other parts of the city, this is good news so enjoy. Tickets still are available.

Saturday Spring Events
Author: HelenKay, Category: All For Charity, Arts, Events & Happenings, Festivals, Food, Neighborhoods
Clearly spring has arrived in San Diego. There are quite a few celebrate-spring type events to choose from this weekend. Here is a sampling:
-The 5th Annual Spring Garden Festival - This one takes place at Cuyamaca College and is sponsored by the San Diego Watercolor Society. You, basically, go to the The Water Conservation Garden and paint. It’s free and outside…that’s a pretty big draw. The event is on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
-The 7th Annual Point Loma Garden Walk & Home Tour - This is exactly what it sounds like. You pay to go on guided tours of private gardens and homes in Point Loma. The proceeds benefit the Craniofacial Services at Rady Children’s Hospital. Good cause. Lots of fun. Check it out. this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
-The Linda Vista Multicultural Fair and Parade - Music, food, floats, artisans showing their skills…what’s not to like. The event is Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Linda Vista Road, just north of USD.
Enjoy the festivities.

Art Auction
Author: HelenKay, Category: All For Charity, Arts, Museums
Are you into art? How about charity? Well, you can combine the two. The Museum of Contemporary Art is holding its 6th Annual Benefit Art Auction. And you get to hang out in La Jolla.
The event is this Wednesday (April 9th). The Silent Auction starts at 6:30 p.m. The Live Auction (with the Vice President of Sothebys presiding) begins at 8:00 p.m. The specifics go like this: cocktail attired required. Honestly, do you need to know more than that? If so, think cocktails, light food and tickets prices starting at $100.

Circus Time
Author: HelenKay, Category: Arts, Events & Happenings, Special Shows
There’s a circus in town. But this sounds like a different type of circus. It’s called Technomania Circus. This is really about light shows and performance art and…well, that’s all I can tell you.
If you want to check it out for yourself, head to the Center For Amusing Arts (Commercial Street) this Saturday (April 5th) at 7:30 p.m. for the show. You can also try the link (see above), but be forewarned that the “Meet The Circus” part of the link is under construction.

The Wiggles
Author: HelenKay, Category: Arts, Events & Happenings, Music, SDSU, Special Shows
The Wiggles are in town. For some, that likely sounds like a disease. For others, it’s the only sound that brings peace to an otherwise rowdy home full of preschoolers. For still others…both answers are right.
The Wiggles are agroup of four dudes from Australia who sing kids’ songs and put on elaborate shows that mesmerize kids. If you’ve never heard of them, you likely don’t have kids. In that case, my suggestion would be to stay away from Cox Arena this evening. The Wiggles perform there at 6:30 p.m. This means traffic congestion in and around the college area…where I live. Yes, I will be staying home this evening.

Vagina Monologues
Author: HelenKay, Category: Arts, Special Shows, Theater
Ever wanted to see The Vagina Monologues? Do you even know what I’m talking about? Sounds dirty, I know, but it’s really not. It’s a play based on a series of interviews. It’s performed by a group of women where each one takes a turn in the spotlight. The monologues are funny, poignant and sometimes bawdy. In other words, leave your five-year-old at home with a babysitter. Frankly, the title of the production should give you a hint to do that…as should the name of the venue.
This performance takes place at the The Rubber Rose Sexuality Boutique (told ‘ya)** on Friday (March 14th) at 6 & 8 pm.
**I didn’t name the place, so don’t whine to me about it
