Author: HelenKay, Category: Amusement Parks, Events & Happenings, Neighborhoods
Thursday (February 21st) is the first of four days of the Montgomery Waller Community Park Carnival. Food, rides, fun - you name it, you’ll find it here. Where, you may ask, is Montomgery Waller Community Park? Answer: Coronado Avenue.
I can’t drive you there. You’ll have to figure that part out yourself. There are some details you will need. They go like this: The event goes from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day. There is a nominal fee, but who cares. This is a carnival with carnival rides. It may not be Disney, but it is a whole lot cheaper.

The Land of Legos
Author: HelenKay, Category: Amusement Parks, Events & Happenings
Legoland is getting bigger. For those who love legos and theme parks and theme parks with legos, get ready for more fun because the Carlsbad park is expanding. The addition of an aquarium is on the horizon. And we’re not talking about a small tank here. We’re talking about a 36,000-square-foot aquarium with the catchy name: Sea Life Legoland. Building has started and the grand opening is expected in the summer. For those thinking to combine a Legoland trip with a trip to Sea Life…not so fast. Know that Sea Life will have a separate admissions charge. Don’t act surprised. You should have seen that part coming.
Sea Life is not the only new project at Legoland. The Land of Adventure - including new rides Lost Kingdom Adventure and Pharaoh’s Revenge which both provide shoot-’em-up possibilities - is scheduled to open in March. Legoland also plans to open a hotel but no word on that one yet.
In other words, bigger crowds are inevitable. Build it and they will come.
